Groups and projects contributing to climate change mitigation and supporting adaptation

  • New Forest Transition - Lymington

    New Forest Transition is part of the global Transition movement which exists to create low carbon societies. We aim to reduce the impact communities have on the local area through reducing fossil fuel dependency, creating less waste, increasing recycling, supporting local food and sharing skills to build community resilience. Lymington Transition organises clothes swaps, repair cafes, Green Week and much more!

  • All Saints eco-church

    All Saints Church have started an eco-church team to address how the church uses and manages their resources such as land and buildings. The church team will also be looking at how the church is teaching and encouraging sustainable lifestyles throughout the church culture. The Church of England have a net zero strategy for 2030. Eco Church is an initiative developed by A Rocha.

  • Milford Conservation Volunteers

    Milford Conservation Volunteers is a local group of people dedicated to conserving & improving parish wildlife and environment. They undertake local projects to improve the local environment across the parish, and report on the activities of local wildlife.

    Their excellent work includes maintaining the community meadow next to All Saint’s Church, Working in the Danestream, Maintaining bird hides at Keyhaven and Sturt pond, and monitoring nature in all these places. Visit Milford Conservation Volunteers for more information.

  • Wilder Milford

    Nature recovery has to be at the heart of tackling the climate crisis. The Wildlife Trust is supporting groups and individuals to develop wild areas in their gardens and community spaces.

    Look for the ‘Wilder’ signposts. You can find one spot in Swallow drive, next to number 23. If you want to develop your own wild area, visit the wildlife trust for help and support.

  • MOSPS Green Flag

    Exploring the natural world, and being engaged citizens runs through the core of Milford on Sea Primary School. As well as regular beach and forest school for all pupils, the school also runs the eco-schools Green Flag Award, an international award which rewards and celebrates young people’s ecological actions in their school and communities.

  • New Forest Park Authority NFPA

    The NFPA ‘Net Zero with nature’ programme is working with businesses and communities in the NF national park to be net zero by 2050. They are looking at the health of NF ecosystems and habits, restoring ecosystems and carbon sinks, as well as community projects such as the Awakening Festival and their household climate and nature pledge.

  • Step Up Safe Space SUSS

    Step Up, Safe Space has regular ‘take what you need’ events for pre-loved items, including school uniform, shoes and toys. They take good quality donations and run clothes swap events, reducing clothes waste and supporting local communities.
